Abstract

This research is done to describe social change on the community living at downstream triangle of Kedungombo water reservoir, Central Java. Approaching model used in this research is quantitative-descriptive, which is implemented through informants choosing, gahtering and analizing data techniques as follows: Informants are choosen purposivelythose who saw and experieced their changing environment, form piece of farm land to water reservoir (dam). Data are gathered through interview with informants through snowball technique. The research finds that a significant change happens to the downstream triangle community during 25 years of their environmental change on the aspect of communaleconomy, family system, relation with local government, and local belief.

Abstract

This research means to know the beneficiary of New Initiative Social Welfare Insurance program on informal workers protection. The research is implemented in Pemalang Regency, Central Java Province. Data resources are participant and implementer of the program (LPA management team, program guides, and controller) all are 60 people. Data are gatheredthrough interview, documentary analysis, and focus group discussion. Data are analyzed through qualitative-descriptive technique. The result shows that New Initiative Social Welfare program is very beneficial for informal workers, create safety feeling for the participant and get income substitute should they face working accident and dye, reduce family bandageand enhance lives needs normally. It is recommended that The Ministry of Social Affairs, through the General Directorate of Social Insurance and Protection resume the program for informal workers with low wage and widen the outreach of contribution assistance receivers (PBI). It needs also socialization and procures adequate facilities of the program holders.It needs also joint-venture between The Ministry of Social Affairs and Social Insurance Board holder in covering health, working accident, and mortal insurance. The improvement of LPA role and guidance motivate low waged informal workers of the importance to participate in social insurance.

Abstract

This research means to reveal business group (Kube) seen from social, economic, and institutional aspects, including its benefit to the members of the poor community, its handicap and supporting factors. This research is qualitative-descriptive approach. Data resources are from eight business groups, the informants are rural local officials from related institution, social guides, social volouteers, informal leaders, women caders, cooporational partners, and community members form Kupang Municipality and Regency. Data are gathered through interview, observation, and documentary analysis. Data are analysed through interpretive-descriptive technik. The result shows that kubes are in developing category. If they seen form social performance aspect, five kubes have good score, three kubes have sufficient score, seen from social aspect there are five kubes have good score, three kubes have sufficient score. If they seen seen from institutional aspect, one kubehas good score, and three kubes have sufficient score, and four Kubes have poor score. kube as a mean of empowerment and poverty elevation should improve its performance so that kube as a business group can be achieved. Kube can be economic institution that based on the spirit of togetherness and solidarity, national loyalty, that it can improve lives andsocial welfare qualities.

Abstract

The research on measuring social welfare of migrant families is to describe social change in migrants familie structure. Methodologically, the approach used is qualitative-descriptive. Research location ditermined purposively in Sukabumi Regency, West Java Province, based on cosideration that in this regency many migrant workers go abroad, especially women working in informal sector. Subjects in this research are migrant worker women, chosen purposively, based on criteria they ever worked or are on leave status and will work back abroad. Data are gathered through interview and documentary analysis, and analyzed through qualitative-descriptive technique. The research finds that the decessionof working abroad as migrant workers causes basic change in family lives to be better. The change caused by remintant contribution from working abroad, families are able enhance life quality, both on their children education and economicsocial improvement. But behind its positive change there is negative change, namely the cofusing of family member functions,between husbands and wives during they are abroad. It is recommended it should be set an integrated services unit, untited from related agencies to identify problems and needs of social services to ex-migrant workers, also it should be set local group work and communication forum for ex-migrant workers under supervision and guidance of related agencies.

Abstract

This research is to analysis the influential factors children to work and its impact on their physical, psychical, and social condition, and its contribution on economic and social, including family, community, and government efforts on stemming the number of working children. This research is qualitative descriptive, research location determined purposively in West Java, East Java, West Nusa Tenggara. Research subjects are children working abroad that happen having vacation in their villages. Based on purposive determination, it is found 30 children as samples. Data gathered through interview, focus group discussion, observation, and documentary analysis. Data are analyzed through qualitative-descriptive technique. The research finds that the causal factors of children to work are the condition of parent education and their low income, and the number of many family members that should be held, and family in harmony. The impact of children working isdelaying their growth, physically, psychologically, and socially. The contribution of children work is increasing the social and economy of the family, such as income and schooling members of the family, and increasing members of the family in social activity. Some family, community, and government efforts to stem the number of working children are sending the children until primary school, diffusing information on the important of children education, monitoring on learning time, forming learning group, looking for reference on school grant, making data on children drop out, giving workskills, giving entrepreneur capital for family with vulnerable economy, monitoring on identity card faking, and limiting working letter to children under age. Some of the government effort to stem the number of working children are, nine-yearschooling obligation program, electronic identification card, issuing regulation on the protection of working children and law measurement on children traffickers. It is recommended for the Ministry of Social Affairs through the Directorate of Violent Victims of Migrant Workers on poor family empowerment program, that in sending migrants workers areas based on local potential, children committing in work should be prevented.

Abstract

The purpose of this research are to conduct an inventory of village poverty problems, describe the actual conditions of rural women poverty map, analyze the poverty alleviation programs with a gender perspective, as well as an overview of coordination between relevant agencies poverty alleviation programs, formulate policy design strategy model of poverty reduction through socio-cultural approach and economics. This research is qualitative approach. Data are collected through observation, documentation, and depth interview. Research subjects are officials and community members of poverty alleviation programs. It can be revealed that the numbers of poor households in Sleman Regency are 45.037 families (13.89 persen). Various poverty alleviation programs have been conducted by various work units, but the synergy among units in the poverty eradication program not yet works, although the target data used program has been one source. Programs among agencies run their own because they often work in sectoral programs. The results of the research can be summarized as follows: Sleman district government strongly supports reduction gender perspective model, since there is a gender disparity in Sleman, which can be seen from index of 79.29 persen, gender development index 75.76 persen and gender inequality gap 3.65 persen. This is due to the access to better education school are male dominated; Access to capital strengthening male-dominated, women still lack of access. Poverty alleviation models with a gender perspective can be tested in Sleman, and will be a pioneer for women with access to poverty reduction. The results of the questionnaireshowed that the stage in the design of the model is expressed well, and the meaning of each stage is considered good. Thus, the model of a gender perspective in poverty reduction strategies can be tested.

Abstract

The highest number of people living with HIV/AIDS are of childbearing age. The cumulative proportion of people living with HIV/AIDS in Yogyakarta is located at the level of 20-29 years of age. High activity in this age group makes a lot of productive risky sexual behavior. In the number of persons over the last ten years has increased tenfold. The research is meant to find out about people’s knowledge on the spread of HIV/AIDS in Yogyakarta. This study used is descriptive method, a research procedure that produces descriptive data in the form of words written or spoken by persons or behavior that being observed. This research is directed at the background of the individual in holistic and detail describtion on the phenomena of various things about the knowledge of the various groups on HIV/AIDS. The results of the study shows that there are many who do not know the transmission mode of this virus. They do not know how the disease is transmitted and only know the transmission of disease when in contact with people living with HIV/AIDS. Nearly 50 percent of respondents of the communities living around people with HIV/AIDS can not name a single cause of HIV/AIDS. This means that public knowledge about the disease around the respondents are not widely known. However, the level of knowledge possessed by peers (peer group) is quite good, because they are able to explain the cause of the spread of HIV/AIDS. Similarly withPLWHA (People Living with HIV/AIDS) and OHIDA (People living with people with HIV/AIDS) are used as the respondents have a fairly good knowledge about the causes of the spread of HIV/AIDS.

Abstract

The purpose of the research is to analyze the influence of social capital and social support toward elderly welfare, involving 35 elderly participants in Home Care Program as respondents. This research is quantitative method. The results showed that although social capital and social support are at a high level, but they did not necessarily have impact onimproving the welfare for the elderly. The result of regression analysis showed no significant effect of social capital (t = 0.812. P> α 0.05) and social support (t = 0.333. P> α 0.05) separately and collectively (F = 0.552. P> α 0,05) on the welfare of the elderly. The value of R = 0.191 indicates a very weak relationship between social capital and social supportto the elderly welfare. Contribution influenced of social capital and social support to the elderly welfare is only 3.6persen (R2 = 0.036). The rest of 96.4 persen are caused by other factors not included in the variables of this study. The effect of social capital and social support to welfare of the elderly is on physical and psychosocial aspects only. Other aspects included welfare indicators consist of environmental conditions, especially housing, access to public and social services, and household economic are not maximal. It is recommended that home care program further to strengthen social capital and social support should be specifically directed to elderly welfare. The program should be implemented by encouragingactive participation of community in order to continue the program without depending external parties.
